Neurofunctional acupuncture applies a modern philosophy to a traditional technique. This approach targets anatomically defined neurofunctional sites which are then stimulated, typically by electricity, for the therapeutic purpose of nervous system modulation. Neuromodulation occurs through cellular mechanisms at multiple levels including both the peripheral and central nervous systems depending on the placement of each needle. Neurofunctional acupuncture is a mechanism-based technique meaning that therapeutic and treatment goals are selected by identifying neurological dysfunction contributing to the symptomatic presentation.

Originally from Toronto, On., I bring the “CAN” to CAN-AM Chiropractic and Wellness.

I completed my bachelor’s degree in athletic training and associate’s in health and fitness at Lake Superior State University in Sault Sainte Marie, MI. During this time, I also competed as an NCAA softball player.

4 short years later, I moved to Davenport, IA where I pursed and earned by Doctorate in Chiropractic at Palmer College. I continued to utilize by undergraduate degree by serving as the athletic trainer for Palmer’s Men’s and Women’s rugby clubs. Go Drags!

I was introduced to the love of my life and NOVA native at Palmer College and voila- here I am in Fredericksburg, VA. working alongside him at CAN-AM. I am also proud to serve as the athletic trainer for both men’s and women’s rugby clubs at UMW. Go Mothers!

As per my background, I incorporate various soft tissue, acupuncture and rehabilitation techniques as well as joint manipulation into my treatment approach. I believe care should be tailored specifically to each patient’s needs- no cookie-cutter approach here!

When I’m not at work, I am usually still on a rugby pitch somewhere with my husband, exercising, hanging out with family or snuggled on the couch with our two cats, Boo and Zazu.

I look forward to meeting and caring for the people in the Fredericksburg community!

Moving back to the charming Fredericksburg area six years after graduating from UMW, I am excited to now be offering chiropractic and acupuncture services to my community.

I grew up in the Northern Virginia area and after finishing high school, went to the University of Mary Washington where I studied Biology with a focus in Neuroscience while playing rugby. I graduated from UMW in 2016, and then went on to pursue my Doctorate in Chiropractic at Palmer College of Chiropractic, where I also played rugby.

After graduating, I completed a 300 hour Acupuncture program through McMaster University in Hamilton, ON.

And now, I am excited to be serving the Fredericksburg community with my wife, Dr. Riley Durbano by offering care at Can-Am Chiropractic and Wellness.

I have a special interest in treating post-surgical patients, headaches, and geriatric populations.

Crystal is a Texas native, but she graduated from Healing Hands School of Holistic Health in southern California, while stationed there with her husband in 2019. She chose a career in massage therapy because of the therapeutic effect it has on relieving chronic patterns of tension and helping with muscle injuries.

Well versed in many forms of massage, she considers Myofascial Release and Trigger Point her specialties. These methods can help reduce soreness and help treat a range of painful conditions, such as headaches, migraines, back pain, and sciatica. She likes these techniques because they also aim to improve range of motion in muscles and joints and support spinal alignment.

On weekends, you can find Crystal cheering her daughter on at soccer games and exploring nearby venues with her husband and 2 sons. They as a family, like to travel and make memories that will last a lifetime.

Born and raised in the Fredericksburg area, I’ve always had an interest in helping people manage their pain and improve the quality of their lives. I have a strong passion for learning new things, especially new techniques and modalities.

After graduating with over 750 practice hours from Eastern Virginia Career College in 2023, I got right to work and have been a practicing massage therapist for 1 year.

My favorite types of massage to give are deep tissue and sports massage. I’m also well versed in anatomy and physiology and enjoy working with different tools when aplicable.

When not working, I enjoy spending time at home drawing, gardening, and playing with my two dogs.

I look forward to working with you!
